Yes that is sturdy cardboard! Did one of these years ago for my Madman costume and decided to do another one to sell as I get a lot of requests. Been making cardboard weapons for a long time, and they hold up to daylight as well and peopel always ask it they are real. I made them mostly ti use with my mannequins as they are very light, and 100% safe for costuming. I also repaint plastic ones to look more real and aged etc. Made a greatBabyface fireaxe for someone awhile back.
