Hello boys and girls, I guess I need some help again. My electric skills are that if there is a blue and a black wires and I only have to connect the blue one with another blue one and the black one to another black one, I can do it. But as soon as there are resistors and circuit boards and stuff like that, I pretty much suck. So, before I destroy something, I thought it would be better to ask.
Here's the story:
Long time ago, I saw a TV show where two guys wanted to "recycle" things from computer hardware. One of the things they built was an illuminated board where they reused the light source of an old image scanner.
Some time later (but still long time ago from now), I bought a new scanner because my old one didnt scan properly anymore. I remembered that illuminated board and decided to open the scanner and to remove the light before throwing the thing away.
I searched for the show and found the sequence online, but unfortunately, they didn't show up any of the wiring, so I have no idea what to do with the light.
Here is the light source:

So, my question to the experts: can I actually use this here by putting a powersource to the wires, or can't I use it because I threw the circuitboards and stuff away that I actually needed?
The second question is almost the same, but with a different part:

This is a little engine the moveable mirror from the scanner was attached to (and honestly, I don't even know why I kept it :lol). Would it be possible to connect it to a USB-cable (for example) to make it run again? I don't know what the colors are good for and how much power it needs, so I didn't try to hand a battery on it or something.
So...any advice?
