Inspired by an old vacuum cleaner pipe and ANT's graflex replica I decided to try and make an as accurate Luke's ANH replica I could from as cheap part I could get my hands on.
Steel pipe from vacuum cleaner (free)
knob from antec computer casing (free)
button from instamatic camera (free)
lens from instamatic camera (free)
bubbles from hobby-store (3 $)
grip bars from window isolation tape (10 $)
d-ring from bag (free)
steeltrack from hard ware store (12 $)
hobby paint can (free)
black photo film cannister (free)
screws (5 $)
= 30 $
Apparent flaws:
no beertab
no small slide switch on the side
no clamp lever
grips are way too thick (and only six)
1.27 inch diameter (graflex tube diameter: 1.51)
Luke's ANH lightsabre - a set on Flickr
Any tips on what I could improve on or where I should look for my clamp lever?
