One of my favorite cartoons growing up was Batman the animated series. I loved the Art Deco style of the buildings and Batman's gadgets and I always dreamed of having all of his cool toys. I recently obtained a 3D printer so i decided to that i was going to make as many of Batman the animated series gadgets is i could find good source material for.
The first one on the list was the grappling gun, I watched a dozen of episodes and quickly noticed that the gun changes each time he uses it, i am not complaining but just stating that it never seems to look the same. I figured the best thing to do was select one episode and make that one, I picked episode 7 P.O.V. The next step for me was making the 3D model, I use AutoCAD because that's the program that I have and have the most experience with. After I was happy with the model I set off to print it. The printer is a nice tool to have but I find that it is just a starting point because after its printed there are hours of finishing work that goes into the piece. I ended up having to print the gun in multiple pieces so when I modeled it I placed two 1/8" holes through the parts so I could insert a dowel to help align and for strength. After i painted and assembled the gun it looked to me like it was missing something so i weathered it a little and I could not be happier with it.
Up next are two of the Batarangs that are used in the series. But i need some help with the other Gadgets that Batman uses in that series, any images of additional gadgets would be greatly appreciated. I am hoping to make as many of the gadgets as i can.
