Crafting my fandom (or as I call it, a workbench)

Decided that I could chronicle my latest endeavor into the world of building things, this time using lumber.

I am NOT a carpenter, nor am I even remotely talented as one. Honestly I have trouble hammering a nail in straight. Just not a life skill I ever picked up.

I decided a few months ago I needed a new workbench. Mainly due to the fact I am tired of going outside and working, and also I am tired of losing days to rain, fog, etc when I want to paint or get something done. I decided I would solve this problem by changing a small room in my house into a workroom.

After getting the room mostly cleared out, I opted to go to lowes, since I'd rather set my nuts on fire than walk into a home depot.

I took pictures of the prices of the items and decided to tackle the project as a stable, big, heavy workbench. Having never built anything like this before in my life, I talked it over with the semi resident expert (also known as Mom), and got some advice on what I needed to get and how the build should go.

The basic plan was a big, deep rectangle. The original plan involved 2 tables in a L shape, but I nixed that plan on the case that I'd have to build 2 of the damned things, and I already knew I was going to have trouble with one of em.

DAY ONE BEGINS!

So, having worked out the diagram of what I wanted to do, I went to Lowes and purchased me some 2x4s and some screws, and a big vinyl drop cloth (cause I don't want to repaint the walls every time there is overspray when I am painting). I have the guy there cut the pieces I need into 32" lengths, and load my truck up.

I head home, making a pit stop at taco bell and the local stop n rob for an icee, and proceed to unload everything.

Part 2 incoming :)

Chris
