Hi everyone, I kept meaning to post my Game of Thrones project Ive been working on for some time but just havent been able to get around to it until now...
I decided to recreate a number of the documents from the past 3 seasons of the show since my Game of Thrones collection is pretty sparse and props are still too few. I thought seeing these pieces in the show was really neat since they actually play a significant role in moving key plot points and events forward... so I had to have them! :D
I based these from several sources such as the screen used piece and behind-the-scenes photos of the original prop. In some cases, I went back to the book or simply used my best judgement and imagination....
I decided to organize the pieces in two thematic sets:
1. the War of the Five Kings set which contains documents relating to the outbreak of the War of the Five Kings.
2. the Prince of Winterfell set, which contains documents relating to the rise and fall of everyones favourite Greyjoy...
The handwritten calligraphic quality is much better in person than the pics show. And the colour of the text may look black but it is more of a dark walnut colour. I had these professionally printed as giclees on textured fine art paper so they definitely dont feel cheap. The paper is nice to work with and has a really great feel to it.
I am still finalizing the final artwork and the weathering, so the pics are just teasers. But Ill post more pics as I finalize each piece. Im also still waiting on the rest of my seals to complete each piece.
The weathered Stark letter in the pics below is just a test piece; Im still finalizing the weathering. The weathering was actually done separately. To maintain consistency and get the weathering right, I scanned the weathering and overlaid it onto the original image. As such, only the front will have the weathering.

So without further ado:
From the War of the Five Kings set:
Robert Baratheons Will
As seen in Season 1, Episode 7 You Win or You Die.
I based this replicas wording on the various versions seen in the episode and the titles I based off Neds proclamation in the very first episode before he passes judgement. The lettering was done to be consistent with Neds handwriting on the parts that could be seen on screen as well as his letter to Stannis.
Im also working on a 2nd version which includes Neds title as Warden of the North since this seemed to be omitted from the screen used one(s).
Since the seal was never shown in the show and only referenced by Ser Barristan as King Roberts seal, unbroken, I went back to the book passage. I decided to use the Baratheon stag seen on the banners during the Hands Tourney in Episodes 4 &5 as the basis for the seal, which I am still patiently waiting for.
Eddard Starks Letter to Stannis Baratheon
Also seen in Season 1, Episode 7 You Win or You Die and the travelling exhibit in full, I based the majority of this on the prop in the exhibit with the last few lines and words on the screen used one.
I had a seal made based on the screen used one which, of course, is the Stark direwolf.
Stannis Baratheons Declaration
This can barely be seen in Season 2, Episode 1 The North Remembers so I had to come up with my own script trying to maintain the general look of the screen used one as well as trying to be both unique and consistent with the Westerosi script of other documents.
I based the wording on what was stated by Stannis and Mathos in the episode, as well as the original passage from A Clash of Kings but with some minor alterations to keep consistency with the series phrasing of formal titles.
I also plan on doing a version based on the book passage and wording.
Also decided to make a seal for this based on Stannis stag and fiery heart sigil.

Maester Aemons Warning
As seen in the Season 3 finale, Mhysa, I used the behind-the-scenes photo of the prop to complete this piece. Those who have read ahead will, of course, know the importance that Maesters Aemon warning has on developments down the road...
Although difficult to see, the seal on the screen used prop looked like a crow to me so thats what I went with for the seal.
Although I havent started on it yet, I plan on doing another version based off the book passage.

From the Prince of Winterfell set:
Theons (Burned) Letter to Robb Stark
This was seen in Season 2, Episode 3 What Is Dead May Never Die in a great character development moment for Theon. There are two versions of this letter: the screen-used one and the one from the travelling exhibit. Theres not a huge difference save some of the lettering and Theons signature. Im just finishing up the exhibit version.

Ramsay Snows Letter to Robb Stark
Although this was never seen on screen and only referenced in Season 3, Episode 2 - Dark Wings, Dark Words, I thought it was a neat prop to do so I did.

Ramsay Snows Letter to Balon Greyjoy
This fun little piece, of course, was seen and read aloud by Balon Greyjoy in the season 3 finale, Mhysa. I made a seal to go with this piece although Im still finalizing the colour of the wax.
Here are pics of the seals:
I havent found the right colour for the Bolton seal yet so I just used gold as a place holder.
Thanks for looking folks. Hope you enjoyed :)
