Let me start by saying I swear I searched Google and the RPF for this first, but didn't find answers. I'm working on pulling together sounds for my 'space rifle' that I'd like to put on a sound board from the RPF, but I'm struggling with the audio editing, and hoping someone else here has dealt with this and might have an idea of how to handle it.
I've got some gun shot sounds from the game that I've put together in Audacity to create a three-round burst like sound. It has a pretty significant trailing echo sound at the end which I feel adds to it, but when you play it in a loop it sounds like you're firing it in series of three round burst instead of an automatic fire sound.

Is there any trick to this? Should I build a longer sound and trim the trailing part of the sound? Or should I look into having two sounds, one for a three round burst and one for a full auto?
Any help would be appreciated, thanks for being kind to me on my first new thread.
