Damn Rylo, the guy is just a piece of work. He makes these cans and a whole bunch of other metal props, and calls himself a "good" propmaker. I can do BETTER!.
I'm going to make my cryocan out of foam. If Iron Man people can do it, so can I.
(Before you close this window - keep reading please - I know some elders here have a foamphobia)
So, either way, I figured the best way to start making the can was to go to my local pharmacy and pick up a can of barbasol.
To much my surprise - THEY CHANGED THE CAN! AUGH! That's right folks, you read right, cryocans as seen in JP1 can no longer be accurately produced. My first attempt at making a prop shot down before it could even begin!
Sure future prop makers can slap a sticker on the can or something to cover up the new design, but that's just one more step removed from the original prop that I, as a longstanding member of the RPF, will not stand for. Replica movie props are the best when they are Cast from the Original or made with all accurate parts. Sadly, one of the most accurate parts for the cryocan is now unavailable.
Have other's seen the new design? The can has a blue shield behind the word barbasol now. I guess they're trying to compete with some newer brands (gillette..etc.)
So those who have a cryocan, hold onto it for dear life. Another piece of our history is lost to the sands of time. We'll be able to tell stories to our kids about how barbasol cans "back in the day" only used to have red blue and white stripes.
I've only seen Rylo's cryocan come into fruition, and he's been making them in limited supply over the last few years. Perhaps he has a giant stash of old barbasol cans somewhere. Perhaps he's just a really hairy dude and needs a lot of extra shaving cream. Perhaps he has sasquatch in his basement that he needs to shave down every once in a while to take him outside or else it'll eat his family.
I guess we'll have to wait and see what the JP cryocan makers come up with.
