DS Gun Star Wars conversion.

I got a Logan’s Run DS blaster kit and wanted to do something different with it.
In the original Star Wars trilogy, weapons like the mauser and sterling were converted to Sci fi blasters by adding bits to them, mainly a scope. So I decided to do this to the DS gun, even though it’s already a Sci fI blaster.

I bought an air pistol scope.
I didn’t like the mounts, I thought they looked too modern. I know this sounds strange for a sci fi weapon, but they didn’t look right for a Star Wars prop.
I got some mounts that I think are more suitable.
I cut off the bits that adjust the cross hairs, and stuck on some aluminium knurled knobs instead.
I mounted the scope with the knobs pointing downwards at 45 degrees.

To mount the scope, I cut some bits of aluminium and tapped some holes to screw them in place.

I mounted a tube in the muzzle and drilled a series of holes in line with the slots.
I wanted to add a laser sight, so I cut a section of 20mm scope rail and tapped and screwed this in place.
I just got a tap and die set, and I’m afraid I got a bit carried away with it on this build.

I found a laser sight I liked, but again the mount looked wrong for this build. I found another laser with a better mount, and swapped them over.

The grips that came with the kit were made thicker. I decided to attach them with one big centre screw.

I added a trigger guard, which was made from 4mm aluminium plate.
I cut a piece of 4mm aluminium and drilled and tapped some holes to fix this to the butt of the blaster. I then added a Swivel Stud. Some more aluminium plate was epoxied in the frame so I could tap some holes for the grips.

New side plated were made from 3mm aluminium plate, and fins were epoxied to them. The fins were made from heat sinks.
I cut a new trigger, and to finish off, added another knurled knob at the rear of the blaster.

I painted the whole thing satin black with gloss white grips.

Here’s a comparison with an unmodified DS blaster.
