So i stumbled upon a really well done pepakura model one day browsing on youtube and got me thinking. I looked into pepakura Designer and the available designs and decided i want to take a stab at it.
I have always wanted to make a Guy Manuel Helmet after i saw Volpins final model a long time ago. It was soooooo sweet! However, I am just a broke college kid, with nothing but basic tools, knowledge, and a garage. I don't really have the know how or resources to make a helmet such as Volpin's and purchasing one is too expensive for me. So, getting my hands on one seemed like an almost impossible task.
Anyways, i stumbled across a pepakura model of Guy's helmet and instantly wanted to give it a shot! After doing some research i have decided to go all in and try to make a real helmet, using the pepakura file as the base.
So here it is, hope you all enjoy! :popcorn
Day 1:
It took me FOREVER to cut out all the pieces and put them together in the proper place. I used a cheap exacto knife and a small container of krazy glue to accomplish this

Day 2:
Finished up the ears and other small details. The ears seemed almost impossible to create, so i cheated a bit with match sticks and a wood railing knob from home depot.

Day 3: Fiberglass Resin First Coat. This stuff is nasty! watch where you are working and take your time.....to an extent haha
(I put wash cloths on top of my head to make it sit where it eventually will be.)

Day 4: Fiberglass Resin Second Coat. Same stuff different day...

That's it for now, just waiting for it to warm up a bit before i actually fiberglass the inside of the helmet, then its on to a massive amount of bondo work haha. More updates to come!
