Portal companion cube

Hey every body I've been lurking around on the forums for some time now and figured that I would start posting. I wanted to start with something kind of easy but difficult enough that I would learn something from it. I finally made my decision with the Companion cube and this is the progress that I have made so far today.

I wanted to first try to make it out of foam and go from there.




Any suggestions are welcome on how I should approach this. Thanks.
