Fun with Arduinos for FX

Last night I whipped up a little breadboard mockup of the firing sequence for my Metro 2033 Volt Driver railgun build. Here's an overview pic...

The breadboard has 4 LEDs that light up in rapid sequence on firing, the meter shows the current "charge" level, the black button (when pressed) adds one "charge" to the device, and the red button fires it (using one "charge").

Here's a quick video showing the components and firing sequence...

If you've not thought about using an Arduino to control your prop FX, consider it. They are very cheap and it's pretty nice what you can do with them. My little demo here is greatly under-utilizing the capacity of it. Also, they can be much smaller than the one I'm using here. Check out https://www.sparkfun.com/products/11113 for example.

Any other Arduino users?
