Made this as a prop for a fan film. It's made of quarter-inch foamie sheets that were cut into petal shapes and glued together, leaving the flaps at the top. Then it was dressed up with a couple cans of Great Stuff expanding foam insulation, some bathroom caulking, some hot glue drips, and some textured spray paints.

I also rigged up some aquarium tubing down through the bottom and ran high-pound fishing line through it to each petal so I could stand off-camera, pull on the strings, and have the petals open like this:
