Adventure Time - Finn's Golden Sword of Battle

Hello everyone!

This is my handmade Finn's Golden Sword of Battle. I made it out of balsa wood, because I don't have any major power tool besides my little dremel, so everything was done pretty much by hand.

Hope you guys like it as much as I do!
I never done anything like this or even worked with wood, so I pretty please with the final result.
I made the "blade" a little bit longer than usual, because i'm a tall guy and it felt right with that size.

Sheets of balse with the layout I wanted to make.

Glueing them together with elmers glue.

Some heavy stuff to make some pressure.

After I let the glue dry out, I cut the balsa with a hacksaw. In this picture i was sanding it.

More sanding.

Checking the angle.

Keep on sanding ;)

One side done.

Looking good.

Using the dremel to mark the "blade" was the original in the series.

Used the dremel to drill out this hole.

Feels about right.

Sanding the edges.

Nice.

Bottom of the sword, draw a circle on 4 sheets of balsa glued together.

The piece sanded and with the hole for the jewel.

Markings for the sword to fit in.

Starting to look like a sword ;)

Using some super sculpey to make the jewels.

Baking the clay.

Smoothed out the edges.

White primer.

Painted red ;).

Wood filler.

Sanding the wood filler ;)

Looking goood! ;)

Sprayed a bit of white primer and painted the blade with acrylic.

Handle painted black.

Painting some details.

I'm really liking it.

I used black felt cloth, but i wasnt liking it one bit.

Sprayed some grey paint on it.

And it was the final touch, i liked the felt then.

The sword its lightweight due to the balsa, but it feels right (or i got used to it with time).
