Hello, i hope i do not scare to many away from this post by the kinda vague title.
My name is Anders.
I am an industrialdesignstudent currently studying on my 9th semester at the Oslo school of Architecture and Design (Arkitektur- og designhøgskolen i Oslo - AHO) up here in cold Norway. This semester my program is about tangible objects. I am setting out to make 5-10 objects with different tangible interactions.
So, for one of those tangible objects i want to make a replica movie prop.
The thing is i also want to in some way replica or make real the effect/usefullnes this prop has, gives, or takes ect.
I want the effect to be as screen accurate as possible, and not just in the looks but also in the effect.
I need some interaction in the prop also, so the Knight rider scanner is out, and i doubt i can make a real lightsaber, but i am willing to try. Maybe the wand from Harry potter or one of the batman gadgets. Anything goes.
My schedule allows me to put in between 50 and 70 hours into this. (with som reserve hours to be taken if needed)
To my disposal i am lucky to have state of the art workshops, 3d printers, laser cutters, full stock metal, plastic and wood workshop to my disposal, in addition to my own stock of soldering and electronic equipment.
I am a big movie fan with sci-fi as the numer ones and i love props. But i would realy like some help for choosing the prop i want to make. So if some of you got an idea or a proposal to wich prop i should build, i would realy like to hear it.
Any tip is good in my book and i would love a challenge.
I will thoroughly document the build process with a buildlog at this site.
I would also like a discussion around this theme in some way or the other so dont be afraid to give some feedback in one way or the other.
If you got a question let me know. And fire away with the prop tips.
Mvh
Anders
