Steam Viking gear for AnachroCon 2018
AnachroCon focuses on Steampunk and Alternate History; this year's theme was The Viking Age. The inevitable fusion of Steampunk and Viking is a Steam Viking:

The running man 1987 Adidas shoes
Does anyone have any information on these shoes. I have just been reminded of them and thought this would be the best place to ask.
Worn by the main actors in the film.

A280c build
Hello hoping I could find some help on this, Im building my rifle from an AMG stg44 airsoft. Im planing on gutting it and adding blaster light effects and sound. What Im stuck on is I want to use the guns selector and trigger to operate the sound and light. On how to wire it up to use the select switch (safety on single fire and full auto) and to the trigger I was wondering if anyone knows how I could go about doing so

Blade Runner Off World M2019 Upgrade
A few weeks back I managed to pick up some metal parts to fit to my old OW M2019 off the Bay. The seller said that they originated from someone on the RPF but I don't recall seeing them on here. Photo is from sellers listing.
Anyway all the holes lined up and the parts fitted quite well with only a minimum amount of cleaning up and adjustment. I also filled a little here and there to get some nice crisp edges.

The grips are bigger than the standard M2019 which I know were on the small size but everything else is spot on.
Here is a picture of it painted and assembled - The LED's are fitted but I'm still waiting for the switch and battery holder to arrive and I've had to 3D print the little elliptical Stayer safety lever (not shown here).

I already had the upgraded frame set so I've kept the metal trigger guard. It has a very nice weight to it now with none of the rattles and creaks that it had previously.
I'm currently working on a machined steel bolt for the upper receiver and when that's done I'm planning on machining a metal barrel for it.
The only plastic parts left will be the bolt handle and rear bolt cap which I'm not confident in being able to machine a replacement however I'm sure I'll pick something up eventually to fit the bill, The main cylinder frame and cylinder both of which I'm thinking tricky to replace in metal but neither is really seen so I'm not too bothered.
I'll post more as I go.

Gears of War Boltok journey
I've been posting this on my Facebook and figured I would catch up here.
Building this pistol as my first project started completely by me starting with the templates.
Eventually this will be cast up in pieces as a kit to sell.
This first post will be mainly a pic dump and a little story.

Terminator 2 Minigun and Grenade Launcher
I made this as part of our whole family (myself, my wife and son) going all out in a Terminator 2 theme for Halloween this past October. I'd meant to post a little sooner but... Anyway, I bought some minigun replica plans to get me started, but I ended up using several references as well as some items I had on hand to save time. I'll alos post some images of the minigun on a neutral backdrop when I get the chance.
It's built in such a way that at some point I could add a motor to get the front barrel array to spin. I thought it'd also be cool to place a really bright light inside to simulate muzzle flash as they spun past the main feed. We'll see...

The Grenade Launcher featured a solid wood stock but most of the rest of it was PVC and modeling foam. The endoskeleton piece was fun to do as well and featured a real glowing eye. Looked great in the dark Halloween night.

Quest for Real World Keys - Ready Player One
I am on a Quest for REAL WORLD equivalent keys from the Movie, Ready Player One. Such as a Real Copper - Copper Key.
My money is tied up for a while, but I made a STL of the Copper Key to have printed in copper.
I might consider selling the STL file for personal use to raise money to buy a key for myself.
I also obtained some stone to make a jade key. I chose a green soapstone since it's easier to carve.
This will be a gradual process, especially if more keys come out.

Adding texture to props?
Hi there.
Sorry if a thread already exists for this but I was wondering how Id' go about adding a texture to a prop.
I've found that most, if not all of tech from the 1990's has a fine matte texture to it. I'm planning on making a replica of the waist-computer-thing the hacker has in the cowboy bebop movie (2001)
Anything helps, thanks :P

Ash's Robo Hand - Ash Vs Evil Dead
Being a massive Evil Dead fanboy and cosplayer/costume builder, the release of Ash Vs Evil Dead was absolute heaven. As soon as I saw Ashy Slashy's new robo-hand, i knew i had to build it.
To Begin with, I was originally only gonna make the wrist cuff for my saw, but plans changed when I realized I couldn't easily open my beers with a chainsaw.
First thing I needed was the black housing on the wrist plate. I found the files posted on Thingiverse by Identity Crisis Costuming, and raiding my local electronics store for the red lamp. The lamp is actually a switch, and I got a push on/push off switch, but after looking lately, I'm pretty certain its the rocker switch version. Too late now I guess. Having the size of the lamp bezel, I was able to scale and print the housing, which I tweaked heavily, adding panels and making it slightly more accurate. I then moulded it so i could cold cast a hollow resin version for fitting electronics. The base plate I decided to do in 100mm PVC pipe.

At this point, I decided I wanted to add all the screws in with actual screws, Allen heads, Tiny M3 bolts and some torx security screws. I used my dremel to hollow out the bezel mount and cut my plate to size and shape. You can see in the above pic, I sliced off the silver dial thats next to the lamp, as I could scratch build something much closer.
Next up was fitting my dial and lamp, as well as the ribbon cable. One thing I found was that my lamp LED was 12volt. I ended up gutting the assembly and epoxying just the shell and gasket together, and adding an LED with a small battery assembly, much nicer than burning out 12 batteries. The housing was painted black, and I used steel wool to buff the edges back to show the Cold Cast Aluminum surface.

I don't have pics of the next few bits, but I used Chicago screws, and aluminum bar stock to attach the straps and buckles, and used the same bar stock to make a close enough over-center latch for the top. The whole baseplate was sprayed silver, and I used latex to mask off the chipping, and sprayed the whole thing red. Latex gets rubbed off when the red is cured, and boom baseplate done. The housing was bolted to the plate with the allen head screws in the four corners, then all i had to do was add some fake wires and some blue electrical tape to the fake torch on the side. I went over the whole set up with some black and brown acrylic paints, then It was bolted down to a quick gauntlet cuff I stitched up from vinyl, and I was ready for the con!

NOW..... fast forward a month or so.... and my buddy lets me know he's getting rid of some costume stuff, including a set of heavily beaten up motorbike gloves..... so I decided to make the full glove.
I used the same 100mm PVC pipe to make the backplate for the hand, and cut some strips to form the clamp cuff, not a whole lot to say about this but trial and error and a whole lot of reference. I dremmeled out the cable holes in the backplate, and mounted the bolt to attach it in the leather glove. I used some 3mm sheet PVC to make the cable bridge, and then the whole thing was glued together with PVC cement. I then sprayed it all silver, then the masking and red was repeated. The bolts in the cuff were real ones I cut down and super glued in, and then the whole setup was hit with the black and brown acrylics,

The cables were pretty basic, I needed something flexible between the hand and arm, so I settled on 3mm elastic cord. I hit it with silver paint and they looked close enough. I made the cable mounts on the bridge with some disassembled pop rivits and heatshrink, then superglued the cables in. The thin cables on the hand were chrome elastic I found at the craft store, again, super glued in place. The braided hose near the thumb was a black shoelace sprayed silver, it's temporary till i find a better solution.

I was wracking my brain trying to work out how to do the fingers, which are made to look like inset motorcycle chain. I finally settled on latex. I built a close enough form, mimicking the look of the original, out of EVA foam, made a quick plaster mould and cast 4 chain strips out of it. Hit them with some plastidip and drybrushed silver highlights. The existing leather and knuckle pieces were cut off the leather glove, then it was all glued down with contact adhesive. I then formed the silver bands out of EVA foam, and did three heavy coats of silver plastidip. A drop of super glue holds them in place.
I've still got to build the thumb assembly, but for what its worth, I'm damn pleased with the whole build.

Dr. Grordbort Custom Manmelter - WIP
Most who know me know I'm a huge Weta fan (I'm a Kiwi so it's like a national requirement). Especially anything designed by Greg Broadmore which of course includes his brainchild - Dr. Grordbort. I also happen to have a thing for steampunk, so you can see why these guns do it for me. Lol.
![]()
Managed to pick up a Manmelter while in NZ a couple years ago. Then last year found a guy in Canada selling 3 of the Grordbort guns which I purchased knowing we were heading this way. So I now have the Galiathon, the FMOM and 2 of the Manmelters.

Rather than selling the second Manmelter I decided to custom paint one of them as Weta had themselves customised a few Manmelters...

If you've browsed my collection you'll see I'm a big Air Force fan and also collect stuff from WWII

So a WWII airplane paint job is definitely on the cards! The question will be, what colours go where and what insignias to use
![]()
While I muse over these questions, I figured the best thing I could do was take the leap and prime the thing! That way there was no turning back right?

I mean lets be honest, this is an expensive, limited edition, rare prop, so to go and paint over the amazing metal finish would just be nuts! I'm having second thoughts...

Alien/H. R. Giger Desk Fan- Product/Prop Design Project
Hello Everyone,
First post here and I thought I would share a ten week long project I did for my Industrial Design class. Some of you may already know this but much like Adam Savage, H. R. Gigers background is in Industrial Design. So I chose to redesign a desk fan with Gigers biomechanics design language. It started with initial sketching and went into a Zbrush 3D Model that was 3D printed. The model was then sanded, painted and finished with a gloss clear coat. I also did some packaging design based off of a previous build done by Adam Savage for his Bladerunner prop pistol. Its basically a plywood box covered with Tolex with a black felt interior. Weathering was done with a Scotchbrite pad and coffee. Hope you enjoy and thank you.
