Hi All -

My wife wants to do this costume for Halloween and we have NO IDEA what glasses these are, or if they were made for production only -

Anyone have any clue, or anyone have any ideas for a "close enough" pair?

Thank you!

Why is is so hard to find non-resin replicas of the Blade Runner pistol?

I've always wondered that. The only two legit ones I've ever come across that weren't hand/custom made was the Japanese one and the Coyle US ones, and they're...well...expensive. I'm kinda suprised no one's ever made a more economy replica/airsoft style that isn't the one-piece resin kit version?

I had a spool of plastic wrap left over from a move, so I put together this prop from one of my favorites, Super Troopers. It's Afghanistanimation!

Help with cracks in EVA foam paint job

$

Hello All! So i just finished painting a suit of armor and I've noticed the paint is cracking when I try to bend the armor. I did treat the armor before I started to paint it. First I used Mod Podge and then I sprayed on some Plasti Dip. After that I applied the color paint I wanted (Rust-Oleum Ultra Cover Paint + Primer) which I made sure said it bonds to plastic. The armor doesn't need to bend much but now I'm getting all of these cracks in the paint. Do I need to add some type of clear coat to the armor? HELP!!!

Corvo Attano's Mask (work in Progress) - From Dishonored

A while back, my roommate informed me that Bethesda was making a sequel to Dishonored. Having recently discovered Tested, and replaying the game, I was inspired to go off and make the assassin's mask. I started by looking at reference photos and finding my way here for ideas of what means and materials would be best to make it with. Shortly after coming to this website I found Jimskio's process for making the mask and decided to follow a similar process, but I've decided to make it a bit differently.

Jimskio's mask: http://www.therpf.com/showthread.php...ght=Corvo+Mask

Instead of making a Super Sculpie mask into a mold, and making a cast from that, I plan on just wiring together and painting all the Super Sculpie pieces. There have been a few problems with this, primarily that the thinner areas (jaws and areas around the eye socket) have broken a time or two and in hindsight I should have painted the pieces before wiring them together, and if you are looking to make your own mask, I'd recommend doing the mold and cast.

Anyway, this is the picture I've been primarily using and my progress so far.

I still have a few more wires to glue, which I've been doing by bending the wire the way I want it, then turning the ends at 90 degree angles and gluing them into holes drilled into the two pieces. The wires I found are some type of landscaping staple that I found in a mystery box in the garage. They're pretty stiff so it would probably have been easier to use something else but the slightly rusted condition I found them in adds a nice aesthetic.

For the eyepieces I thought I might get either some cheapo telescope or microscope eyepieces and replacing the lens with a bit of glass or plastic so I might get a bit of visibility out of it, but I'm saving that for after its painted.

Please let me know if you have any questions about, or ideas to improve my project! I'll try to keep my progress posted.

P.S. The two wire's glued to the back are there to hopefully prevent the eye sockets from breaking again. (the other sides' eyes are sculpted a bit thicker so they don't have this issue)

This was a projected I started last spring (got the blade done) then it sat dormant until this weekend. All pieces are made from scrap wood left over from other projects.

Heating PETG sheet in oven to set a shape? (pics)

Greetings,
So I while back I was asking about how to make a tube from a sheet of PETG. I was going to go with the make a cylinder out of layers of wood and heating it around it. But I was wondering if I could bend it to shape and heat it (carefully) in an oven enough to set the shape? Or will it just fail completely?
Its only 0.08" thick and I can make a relatively nice tube just by bending and over lapping it, but want it to hold its shape so I can cut off the extra and glue together and not have a raised seam. I do have a heat gun, but I feel i should have even heating for better results.

What do you think? If you think it might work, what temp should I start at? I only want it to hold its shape

Correct color for the purple ribbon in the Shawshank Redemption Bible

I got a nice copy of the correct Shawshank Redemption Bible. The one with the purple ribbon (I know there is also a copy with a black ribbon used in the movie). But the ribbon in my book was so worn out that it broke off. I'm now trying to find the correct color for a replacement ribbon (the ribbon is 9mm wide). I already bought the colors aubergine and purple online, but the color is not the exact one as the original ribbon. Does someone know where I could find the exact color ribbon to replace the original one?

Destiny sidearm ~ Trespasser ~

$

Hi Guys

After watching punished props youtube channel I started thinking about what I could make, first thing that came to mind was the Ace of spades, So I made the chamber and slug along with a sketch of the gun. Then I found that the Ace of spades has be made already by Lael lee.

So after some more digging and looking around I figured I would make the trespasser sidearm, reasons for making this are;

*Getting to know the 3d printer.
* To learn fusion 360.
* The Trespasser sidearm is not too tricky mostly square edges and easy-ish shapes.
* The Trespasser sidearm has not been modeled that I have found.

After spending some time looking a videos and getting to grips with fusion 360, I got a few reference images and the stl files from destinystl.com and started with some easier stuff. Im totally worried/concered about modeling the rounds of the handle. Anyway heres a pic of the gun and what I got so far.

TrickorTreat Studios Mogwai complete overhaul project.

Okay so its no secret now that these so called replica puppet props are complete pieces of ****, much to mine and many others disappointment.
I was one of the many so happy to see a relatively affordable Mogwai replica that looked half decent. And I know they can say use the "we wanted to make something affordable angle" there really isn't any good excuse for the random quality in which these things turned out. I was kind of expecting it to after they announced that stock had arrived yet I could only find one picture that they posted which was taken from across the room, obviously not wanting too reveal too much of the outcome while orders were still coming in haha.
ANYWAY, I could sit here sooking all day or get down to business. Basically I ordered 3 of these things before the negative reviews and pictures started popping up all over the internet and Ive already read about TOTS's **** customer service regarding refunds for faulty products etc so I'm just going to do my best to bring these guys too life. My plan is too completely de fur one of the mogwai and use the excess to patch and bulk up the other two. I might even consider selling one depending how it turns out.

First thing I felt it needed was a better pose, considering the puppet feature is completely useless as I cant even get two fingers inside it! I have inserted a wire frame and stuffed him to fill him out a bit.
I have lifted and re glued most of the fur around the eyes and mouth, as well as trimming a lot of it away to try bring out the lip curl so he doesn't look so much like a baboon with down syndrome. I still need to pick up some more white fur to fill out the space under the jaw and in the ears.
I have repainted all the flesh areas to darken them up a bit as they were a really creamy color not very accurate to the film. Also the biggest and most recommended modification is replacing those ****ing eyes haha. They really are quite awful and don't understand why they didnt just put some cheap plastic ones in there instead.

After numerous purchases and a few bucks wasted i managed to get some nice glass eyes used for taxidermy in Boars. Cost me a few bob but really makes all the difference! They look a little misty in the pictures as I still need to clean them up a bit and Im still layering fx gloss into the eyelids to seal them nice and flush.
Anyways I think I should be able to salvage it for the most part and I will post pics of my progress. Thanks for looking

Dome light recommendations for prop display

Hi guys, I was curious what type of dome lighting you recommend for your prop displays?

I'm having a museum pedestal made with an acrylic dome for an 89 Batman cowl. I wanted to put a dome light above the cowl to give it that ultimate effect.

Ideally something wireless with a remote would be great so I wouldn't see any wires in the clear acrylic dome. There's this puck light system on Amazon with 4 stars, but the reviews are evenly split between 5 star and 1 star reviews: https://amzn.com/B014FCOHZ2

I trust your opinions more anyway!

Hello everyone,

I am a new member here and thought id share a little work I've done in regards to video game props. They are not perfect, but they are pretty good for a newly born prop maker! I really enjoy making props out by hand and steel, so heres what I've managed to come up with so far. You can also see the full builds in real time as I filmed it all. I hope I manage to find some Metal gear family!

Luke Cage Swear Jar

After watching the show I decided to make the Swear Jar.

After a little research I found that the coffee brand is Cafe Bustelo.

After that it was a matter of adding some masking tape and writting "Swear Jar" on the tape with a sharpie.

The easiest prop replica I've ever made. :lol

This would make a good addition to any Luke Cage cosplay!

Hi all.
It's been a while since I have posted anything on this magnificent site, so I thought I would quickly share with you a project that I started last year after seeing an inspirational thread on the RPF by Dave G. Thankyou again Dave for the wonderful ideas and inspiration that you gave me. I hope you like this thread. Please click the link below to see this great thread if you already haven't seen it.

After viewing the site and making notes I decided to make one of these blasters for myself out of MDF and Plastic. When I started this project I was taking pictures of the process, but alas, I don't know where I have installed them. Anyway, I started by using a drawing I had and traced this onto 12mm MDF. I then cut it out using the band saw, and looking at Dave's pictures, I cut out the inside pieces in the grip so that these would be filled with steel BB's later to add a bit of weight to the gun. I then cut out and glued some plastic sheet to the sides to give strength to them and also add the trigger area between them as well. The first grip plates I made, were from 9mm MDF. These looked Ok, but were a little on the plain side, so I made the next set from 6mm thick pine that I had lying around. After they were rasped, filed and sanded to shape, I used a Checking tool to cut the diamond pattern, and boy what a difference! as can be seen in the last picture.
